Judge Bruno Tonioli called it “top gear, full throttle,” and judge Carrie Ann Inaba added “well done.” Erin commented as they waited for the scores that credit should go to Sasha for being “a heck of a teacher and choreographer.” Ally and Sasha led off with a high-energy jive that received three 10s for a perfect 30. Lauren and Gleb’s foxtrot received a range of comments from “I feel like you’re holding back” from Carrie Ann, to “a mix of flair and care” from head judge Len Goodman. Kel and Witney danced third, doing a jazz number that had Bruno commenting on Kel’s musicality. Frankly, it wasn’t my favorite routine but the judges obviously liked it with a score of three 10s for 30.įinally, Hannah and Gleb performed a romantic Viennese waltz with “lovely sweeping movement,” said Len. Carrie Ann said, “For me, it was your best dance of the season.” The dance received one 10 and two 9s for 28. The freestyle can be a mixture of any number of dance styles - and the creativity, or lack of it, can make or break a couple’s final standing in the competition.Īlly and Sasha’s freestyle was full-out wild dancing with an imaginative combination of tribal-type moves. Carrie Ann summed it up, “For such a little girl, you are so explosive!” It was amazing and IMHO deserved the three 10s for a perfect 30.
Talk about stress relief: At the end of the routine, Sasha ripped off his jacket and threw it into the audience. When the pair came over to listen to the judges, Tom took off his suit jacket and gave it to Sasha, who wore it to the lounge area for their scores. When the cameras came back to the judges’ table, Tom was wearing Bruno’s sparkly teal jacket, talking like Bruno and lounging on the table with his arm around Len. Lauren and Gleb took to the dance floor with a honky-tonk, country-style dance that reflected her background, and it was really good. Len said, “I didn’t know what was going to happen. Freestyle is expect the unexpected, and that’s what I call well done.” Another perfect 30. Hannah and Alan danced next, and managed to surprise the judges with their routine. You really threw me and it was great!” Carrie told Hannah that she thought it was a “victorious freestyle.” The routine also received a perfect 30. The final dance of the night was Kel and Witney’s freestyle, which was supposed to be a hip-hop type of Chicago footwork.
I thought they could have done something with more dance styles. The two-hour show sped by, filled with lots of entertainment. Ne-Yo and Pitbull performed with the pro dancers.
The pro dancers who will be on tour - along with the four finalists plus Kate Flannery and Sailor Brinkley-Cook - were featured with a performance.
