If you chose May, your rival will be no more called Brendan, but Onion (or Cipollone in Italian or Oignon in French)… don’t ask me why… maybe because of his hat…. The game has a new title screen banner and a new icon. Some evolution items can be bought at certain market (Slateport vitamins market, Slateport misc mart, Lilycove Dept store 3F right). Pokémon that evolve with a trade, now evolve by level or holding a specific item and leveling up (for exemple Onix evolves into Steelex holding a Metal Coat and leveling up). Stats: ☒5% of deviation from the original ones. Moves: level up moves, egg moves and learnable ones. 
Trainer: better AI, higher level and 6 Pokémon for important battles (I admit that I was defeated by one of the first youngster of the game…) and sometimes they will give you an item (with a strange empty bubble…).
Wild encounter: all 721 Pokémon available and increased level.
